Meaning

Spine Client System

A Spine Client System is represented internally as a BadgerNet System User Account that is used for a remote computer system that only uses the Spine HTTP API.

A Spine Client System must be of a specific Spine Client Type.

BadgerNet User

A BadgerNet User is a BadgerNet System Account representing a human user that uses BadgerNet Client Systems to access the BadgerNet care records. A human user only uses interactive BadgerNet Clients, such as the desktop, browser or iPad Client.

Spine Client Admin User

A human BadgerNet User who administers one or more Spine Client System accounts. This user can see Audit Logs for each of the Spine Client Systems they administer.

Spine Client Type

Each Spine Client System must be classified as being of a specific type. The Spine Client Type dictates the rules and expectations of the Spine Client System.

Spine Record Filter

Spine Record Filter defines a subset of all possible patient care record data items (FHIR Resources) that are permitted for read/write access by Spine Client Systems.

Care Location

A BadgerNet Care Location is a place or groups of individuals associated with a place where the care of the patient/person occurs. All BadgerNet Users that that access the care records in BadgerNet are associated with one or more Care Locations.

A Care Location can be a hospital ward, community care team or other location where patient care takes place.

It is the Care Location that dictates information governance rules and controls over access to patient records.

Care Record Stakeholder

A Care Record Stakeholder is either a Care Location or a BadgerNet Human User that is deemed to be part of the care of the specific patient to which the BadgerNet record relates.

A Care Location becomes a Record Stakeholder when:

  • It creates a new BadgerNet Care Episode record where it did not exist before.

OR

  • If its associated Spine Client System (of type “MAT”) identifies the care record uniquely for read or write access.

A BadgerNet User becomes a Record Stakeholder when:

  • They are associated with a Care Location that is already a Record Stakeholder for the patient record.

OR

  • They manually create a “break glass” note using a BadgerNet Client Application to declare that they are now part of the care, and as such are therefore now a Stakeholder for that record.

More details here.

Active Care Location

The Active Care Location is the LAST Care Location recorded where care is taking place for a pregnancy record.

It is only the Active Care Location that is permitted to update key demographics for a patient.
